These organizations strive to make a positive change in developing countries, be it through the sharing of expertise, promotion of sustainable development or encouragement of gender equality. Our causes benefit immensely through collaboration, and we wholly value their support.

Resources

The following agencies work tirelessly to track and provide solutions to the challenges facing the ASGM and beyond. They offer a wealth of well-rounded information on the problems and issues surrounding mercury use in gold liberation.

Artisanal Gold Council: Aims to improve the ASGM sector through awareness, training, education, and capacity-building.

UNDP: United Nations Development Programme: The UNDP focuses on human rights and is committed to eradicating poverty, fighting climate change and reducing inequalities and exclusion around the world.

UNEP: United Nations Environmental Programme: Provides leadership and encourages partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

NRDC: Natural Resources Defense Council: NRDC works to safeguard the earth– its people, plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. NRDC is the United State’s most effective environmental action group, combining the grassroots power of 1.4 million members and online activists with the courtroom clout and expertise of more than 350 lawyers, scientists, and other professionals.

GEF: Global Environment Facility: The GEF is a partnership for international cooperation where 183 countries work together with international institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector to address global environmental issues. It is the main funding body for the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

Alliance For Responsible Mining: ARM works for a legitimate, responsible and profitable artisanal and small-scale mining sector which promotes inclusive and sustainable development.

Human Rights Watch: HRW is a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization that documents and publishes human rights-related conditions, utilizing their findings to advocate for changes in policy and practice to promote human rights and justice around the world.

Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland: GEUS is a leading research and consultancy institution in the fields of environmental geology, water resources, energy and mineral resources.

Ban Toxics: An independent non-governmental organization working for the advancement of environmental justice, health, and sustainable development in the areas of chemicals and wastes, with a special focus on women, children, and other marginalized sectors.
